Let the Journey Begin

As I sat on the plane late Saturday night, flying over the incredible city of New York, I couldn't help but smile and say to myself, "Welcome Home". It was time to begin a week-long search of the city. My parents flew up from Orlando to assist me in the big search, as Ryan has his first set of boards next week and this was something I did not want to do alone. We arrived in LGA at the same time and gathered all of our luggage. But before heading out to the city that never sleeps, I had a chance to chat with Ryan (pictured above).

Happy Mother's Day!

For my "Moms" on Mother's Day

More Than A Mother

When God set the world in place,
when He hung the stars up in space, when He made the land and the sea,
then He made you and me.
He sat back and saw all that was good,
He saw things to be as they should.
Just one more blessing He had in store;
He created a mother, but whatever for?
He knew a mother would have a special place
to shine His reflection on her child's face.
A mother will walk the extra mile
just to see her children smile.
She'll work her fingers to the bone
to make a house into a home.
A mother is there to teach and guide,a mother will stay right by your side.
She'll be there through your pain and strife,
she'll stay constant in your life.A mother will lend a helping hand
until you have the strength to stand.
She'll pick you up when you are down,
when you need a friend she'll stick around.
A mother is one who listens well,
will keep her word; will never tell.A mother never pokes or pries
but stands quietly by your side,
giving you the strength you need,
encouraging you to succeed.
A mother is one who can be strong
when you need someone to lean on.
You're more than a mother to me;
a reflection of Him in your face I see,a love that knows no boundaries.
I'm glad that you chose to be
all this and more to me.
You share a love that knows no end,
you're more than my mother,
you are my friend.

I love you both very, very much!!!

Family Ties

I have been meaning to share pictures of Ryan and I from way back when!! Our families met in church when we were younger (Ryan was 10, I was 7)...Since both of our families were far away from relatives, we became family and celebrated holidays, special occasions, and many other fun times. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful family...I could not ask for more supportive, loving, generous, and understanding parents. I have always disliked the term "in-laws"....So when I say parents I mean both sets of parents :) We are so lucky.

~ The love of a family is life's greatest blessing ~

New to the Blog World

Much has happened since July 25th of last year! We have decided to join the blogging world to share with friends and family on our upcoming adventure in New York City!

Why New York City you might ask?

Well, Ryan is finishing his second year of medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. We both have enjoyed our time here in Kansas City, Missouri but as his third year of medical school approached us, we had the opportunity to "branch out" and move to a new city where Ryan will finish his last two years of clinical rotations. New York City has always been a favorite place for us. It's where we got engaged and has always held special meaning. So when we heard this was an option, we jumped at the chance to make this our new home for two years!

While Ryan is completing his clinical rotations, I have decided to go back to graduate school. I will be attending New York University's College of Nursing, pursuing my Acute Care Nurse Practitioner degree. I am thrilled and can't wait to get started!

We will have a new addition to our family in June! No..not what you might think...His name is Ramsey and he is a Miniature Australian Shepard! He is living with his Florida Grandparents for the time being, as we couldn't have pets in our Missouri apartment. We can't wait to have our little guy and are looking forward to seeing his reaction to life in the Big Apple!
